Business Data Analysts are able to analyse a business problem or need and translate it into an analytics solution. Such business needs may arise in any business function such as market basket analysis, fleet management, sales prediction, fraud detection, customer classification for targeted advertisement, workforce turnover prediction, financial credit scoring, etc. An analytics solution would include the preparation of relevant datasets, selecting among alternative analytics modelling techniques, and evaluating the results. Business analysts would also be able to critically interpret their findings, visualize them, and communicate them with decision makers. This module will equip students with the principle concepts big data management, and techniques and hands-on-experience in descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics. Students will also learn how to deal with various types of data, being structured such as spreadsheets or unstructured such as text in social media feeds.
