This module introduces students to the ways people tell stories through social media and provides a critical lens and methods through which to interpret the social and cultural significance of these emerging practices. It considers a variety of platforms/apps, examining how the particular sociotechnical and economic affordances of each shape what can be said and the form stories take. It also considers the creative opportunities posed by these emerging media environments. Students will have the opportunity to research social media platform or user practices or to develop a creative project using social media platforms.
