	Overview
	This module gives students the opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding of the constitutional and substantive elements of EU law, building upon and further developing the study of EU law to which students were introduced in second year. Students should acquire an in-depth understanding of the Treaty on European Union and Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union; better understand the division of competences between the EU and its Member States; be able to identify and understand the legal principles underpinning the application, implementation and enforcement of the EU Treaties and of secondary law; and be able to evaluate critically the application of substantive EU law. Any aspect of this module may be changed in any given academic year, subject to the discretion of the module lecturer.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: * Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of core areas of EU law; * Apply an advanced knowledge of EU law to real-world and hypothetical scenarios, demonstrating problem-solving skills; * Locate and analyse primary and secondary source materials; * Demonstrate the ability to pursue an argument, with proper care and attention to primary sources and to relevant academic literature, as well as the ability to synthesise material from a broad variety of sources; * Demonstrate enhanced research skills, primarily library skills, but also use of databases and appropriate use of Internet resources.
