This module offers final year Criminology students an opportunity to complete, by invitation, a meaningful, focussed piece of research or other academic work in the fields of Criminology or Criminal Justice in conjunction with or on behalf of a member of academic staff. This may include, for instance, meaningful research support to an academic staff member, completion of a submission for a public consultation or similar exercise, work on behalf of or for submission to an NGO or advocacy group, or meaningful data collection and analysis under the direction of an academic staff member. In all cases, an academic staff member will supervise the work.
The purpose of this module is to build relevant research skills, data gathering skills, and writing skills by completing research on a topic of relevance in the fields of Criminology or Criminal Justice. The work in question should involve meaningful research providing a substantive learning experience.
Entry to this module is strictly by invitation only following an application process. One or more academic staff member(s) may put forward a research proposal(s) for which Year 3 Criminology students with a 2.1 or higher result in year 2 Criminology will be invited to apply.
Formal entry to and registration on this module are by invitation only (students cannot automatically enrol and will need to be approved by an academic staff member in advance of registration.) Admission to the module is conditional on the approval and agreement of an academic staff member.

Module Content:

Any aspect of this module may be changed in any given academic year, subject to the discretion of the module co-ordinator.
