This module is designed to introduce students to variety of contemporary issues relevant to the study of criminology at university, including the criminal justice responses to these phenomena. Lectures will focus on theories on class, race, ethnicity, colonialism and gender that inform contemporary research in criminology. Through these lenses, they will critically examine government responses to crime and criminal behaviour, the politicisation of crime, and the criminal justice system. |
