• Explain key syntax necessary for reading a major Latin text.
• Recognise the vocabulary necessary for reading a major Latin text.
• Distinguish the major morphological forms necessary for reading a major Latin text at an advanced level.
• Develop an appreciation of the skills of analysis and synthesis inherent in reading a major Latin text at an advanced level.
• Display the ability to read unseen Latin at an advanced level.
• Evaluate how values and themes are treated in the text.

• Penalties: Ten percentage points will be deducted from the mark awarded for an essay for the first week (or part thereof) that the essay is submitted beyond the due date. An essay submitted more than one week late will not be accepted, unless an extension has been granted by the Head of Department.

• Are supplemental/resit registrations permitted? Yes
• One-and-a-half-hour written examination. The coursework essay mark will be carried forward to the autumn.
