Overview Overview

This is a foundation course in Irish Cultural Heritage Studies. This is an assessment of the diverse aspects of Irish cultural history including place names, the literature of places and the creation and manipulation of history in relation to some of the great prehistoric and early medieval locations in Ireland. The care, presentation and future development of heritage sites such as the Hill of Tara, Newgrange, Kells, Glendalough and Clonmacnoise will be assessed in the context of modern scholarly interpretation and the increasing importance of cultural tourism.

Note 1: Students cannot take ID001X if they have already completed ID001 in the first semester.
