On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:

• be familiar with historiographical trends related to the Cold War, identifying the links between different schools of historical thought and wider political trends;
• engage with major ideas and debates that shaped the history of the period;
• engage critically with primary sources relating to contemporary European history;
• collect, analyse, synthesise, interpret data and present a reasoned argument based on historical evidence.
