	Overview
	This course will give students the tools to think, read and write critically about the Modern Middle East. It will address the political, social and cultural history of the region from the end of the First World War to the Arab Spring.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: think, read and write critically about the modern Middle East. 'close read' key historical documents. understand the key historical issues that have dominated the region. understand the historical roots of the major conflicts in the region. appreciate the role of politics, culture and ideology in shaping the region.
