On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:

• identify the key developments that occurred in Ireland during the eighteenth-century, and some of the more significant contemporary and historiographical debates.
• have a knowledge of the chronology of eighteenth-century Ireland and of the ways in which historical events and processes interact to create sometimes unexpected outcomes.
• use a varied range of primary source material and historical writing.
• through completing essays, have further developed writing and analytical skills.

• Penalties: The expectation is for full attendance by students. Module requires active in-person participation and/or essential practical exercises.

• 60-minute written examination. There will be no repeat of continuous assessment components. Marks awarded during the semester in respect of tutorial assignments will be carried over. The module condition (see Assessment Rules) still applies. 1. A student must sit the examination If this condition is not met the module result is capped at a maximum of 35%.
• University scheduled written examination (Autumn): 60 minutes, On-campus
