• Summarise in broad terms different types of conflict and identify aspects of conflict in German-language literary and visual texs;
• Analyse in some detail and critically evaluate how conflict is represented in German-language film or literature, giving examples where appropriate;
• Critically evaluate secondary literature;
• Plan, research and deliver an oral presentation on one aspect of conflict in German-language film and/or literature, using suitable visual aids where necessary;
• Research, develop and articulate in writing a balanced and well-structured argument.

• Weekly seminars of 60 minutes duration

• Module Graded (numeric value) or Ungraded (Pass/Not Passed): Graded
• Continuous Assessment detail(s): In-class presentation (30%) and course essay (70%). Details of continuous assessment will be advertised during the course of the semester.

• Pass standard: 40%
• Could the result of this module be capped? No
• Penalties: Late submission of assessed course work or examination materials will result in a reduction of the original grade by 5% (5 marks) per day. Assessed course work or examination materials will normally have to be submitted electronically through Turnitin. Late submission of work owing to medical or other compelling reasons is not penalised. The reason must be established in writing prior to, or immediately (i.e. not more than two working days) after the relevant submission deadline and evidence provided (normally such evidence would be a Medical Certificate).
