Module INTRODUCTION TO LATIN, 2A

Module code: GC299A
Credits: 5
Semester: 2
Department: ANCIENT CLASSICS
International: Yes
Coordinator: Dr Cosetta Cadau (ANCIENT CLASSICS)
Overview Overview

These modules - GC2999a & GC299b - continue the systematic introduction to the grammar and vocabulary of the Latin language that is offered in GC298. In Semester 2, the primary focus remains on thorough language acquisition (the grammar, syntax, and vocabulary of Latin), but to this end extracts of many Roman authors are read with little adaptation, deepening students’ awareness of cultural contexts and the richness of the Latin literary heritage. By the end of the year, students will be reading unadapted selections of classic authors such as Caesar, Catullus, Cicero, and Virgil.

NOTE: These modules cannot be taken unless a passing grade across both GGC298 modules was achieved in Semester 1. A minimum number of enrolments is required for these modules to run each semester.
