| The successors to GC296a & 296b, these modules continue with the introduction to the ancient Greek language. The GC297 pair of modules cover the essentials necessary for higher-level study of Greek literature and will see students move on to start work on adapted readings and exercises from Greek originals; moving towards the consideration of the epics of Homer, the dramas of Aristophanes, or the philosophical works of Plato as they were first delivered. Building on the work done in Semester 1, now students delve deeper into the grammar, vocabulary, and syntax of the language, even as they consider thematic material on many aspects of Greek culture and history.
NOTE: These modules cannot be taken unless a passing grade across both GC296 modules was achieved in Semester 1. A minimum number of enrolments is required for these modules to run each semester. |
