This module explores what it means to be French and how French identity is constructed through film, tv series, and graphic novels. We will pay specific attention to bodies to investigate questions of history, nationhood, gender, sexuality, race, and class. This module looks at key moments of French history and culture—Resistance, French feminism, colonization, Islam, HIV/AIDS—and analyses power dynamics that shape or undo Frenchness |
