Module CORPORATE FINANCE AND VALUATION

Module code: FN621
Credits: 10
Semester: 1
Department: BUSINESS
International: No
Overview Overview

This course studies the core financial decisions that companies make with a particular emphasis on equity and firm valuation. We reformulate financial statements into their operating and financial components, for the purpose of valuation. We perform financial statement analysis based on the reformulated income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement, and statement of shareholders equity to provide a better understanding of the underlying sources of firm profitability and firm growth. We apply accounting-based equity valuation techniques and other valuation technologies to value companies. We derive leverage adjusted price-earnings and price-book ratios. With the aid of real-life examples, we show that free cash flow and dividend valuation models are flawed models of company valuation.
