Continuous Assessment detail(s): Continuous assessment, consisting of:
1. Attendance of ten 50-minute research seminars given by visiting researchers in a variety of areas of Physics. Credit can be given for attendance of a seminar at another university, for example as part of the Institute of Physics in Ireland seminar series.
2. Preparation and delivery of a 50-minute departmental seminar on the student’s own MSc or PhD research.
3. Submission of a written summary of one of the attended seminars by a visiting researcher to student's academic supervisor within one month of the seminar. This summary should be done on a seminar by an external speaker (or aphysics/astronomy seminar in another department), but it can be in a research area that is similar to student's own research area.
The summary should be about 1.5 A4 pages long (including a few references), in Times Roman 12 font (or equivalent) at 1.5 line spacing and with 2 cm margins.
The header of the summary should contain the following information: the title of the seminar, the name of the speaker, the affiliation of the speaker, the date of the seminar, student's name and student number
