On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:

• Use basic programming structures in recognised programming language (variables, mathematical expressions, control statements, functions).
• Write algorithms and implement programs to solve numerical problems involving differentiation, integration, root-finding, differential equations and Monte-Carlo simulations.
• Discuss performance issues such as numerical error, stability, speed and memory requirements.
• Develop a working program that models a simple physical system.
• Present project results through a written report and an oral presentation.
