This module aims at training and assessing Computer Science research students in technical, scientific, communication and general research skills in the second year of the CS PhD programme. This will include the submission and examination of the substantive review thesis by the student, as detailed in the CS Research Postgraduate Handbook. The module will also involve an important focus on learning and applying the Open Science (FAIR) principles of CS research.
Students will lead the organisation of events as a team during the academic year (e.g. October Poster presentation, June workshop presentation, seminars, etc) and ensure their training meets expected doctoral outcomes https://www.myphd.ie/doctoral-outcomes.

Assessment:

- Research: Substantive review thesis (April deadline) and presentation/interview (May)

- Open Science: Students will complete modules "open code" and "open results". Course content of these modules are published at [DOI:10.5281/zenodo.10161526] and are made available online at https://roznn.github.io/OpenScience/ .

- Other: submission of forms (e.g. GSF1, GSF2) as defined by course coordinator, submission of other certificates as defined by supervisor and funding agency (e.g. Epigeum, EPE). Organisation and participation to events as defined by course coordinator (e.g. October Poster presentation, June workshop presentation, etc.)

Please note that you should have successfully completed module CS865 (Computer Science PhD Year 1) before registering for this module.
