This module will provide opportunities for students to engage with contemporary theories and debates about gender identities and gender-based inequalities.

It will explore the work of key theorists in gender-studies and feminism and draw out differences and similarities between their approaches. It will examine the status of women in particular and the ongoing prevalence of patriarchy. It will explore such topics as gendered-violence, in particular violence against women, but also state violence and the policing of bodies more broadly. Please note the module will be delivered through a pro-choice perspective and in support of trans rights.
