• Engage critical academic skills for the purpose of reflection and self development in higher education.
• organise and plan their time in a way that will enable them to participate fully in academic learning and university life over the academic year.
• record information, ideas and analysis from lectures, small group leaning activities, fieldtrips and presentations.
• select and appraise data, ideas and information relevant to their course of study.
• read critically and evaluate arguments, ideas and information from text books and academic resources.
• write scholarly assignments that show: clarity of ideas, evidence based knowledge, critique of subject content and competence in academic referencing.

• 24 class hours, tutor input hours, small and large group work, library tour hours, self directed learning.

• Module Graded (numeric value) or Ungraded (Pass/Not Passed): Ungraded
• Continuous Assessment detail(s): Written assignments throughout the module. End of module reflective Learning Journal Essay.

• Could the result of this module be capped? No
• Penalties: Module must be passed before progressing on to further elements of the Degree.
