• Be conversant in filmmaking and photography techniques and discuss the utility of visual methods in the production of anthropological knowledge.
• Demonstrate an informed understanding of the elements of ethnographic film production such as how to plan, research, storyboard, project manage and produce an ethnographic film shoot, including negotiating access and consent with gatekeepers.
• Demonstrate the ability to use filmmaking and photographic equipment, control sound and light and use Adobe Creative Cloud editing software to efficiently create short films whilst showing awareness of the decisions and biases implicit to editorial decision making.
• Critically discuss the history and major ‘turns’ within visual anthropology, including approaches and challenges around representation.
