Glossary

Modules

  • Represent a self-contained fraction of a student\'s workload for the year and carries a unique examination/assessment mark.
  • Modules carry the subject code of the subject to which they belong.
  • Additional information about a module may be obtained from the relevant department.
  • The size of a module is indicated by its credit weighting.

Course structures

  • Details of the compulsory, required and optional modules in each year of the degree.
  • Under modularisation, each year of undergraduate degree programmes are typically worth 60 credits and each year of postgraduate degree programmes are typically worth 60 to 90 credits. This is based on the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), which provides common procedures to guarantee academic recognition of studies at institutions offering ECTS-based programmes.
