Module code: SPA260
Credits: 5
Semester: 1
Department: SPANISH
International: Yes
Coordinator: Carolina Valles (SPANISH), Dr David García León (SPANISH)
Overview Overview

This module is aimed at students who are interested in learning Spanish alongside the core subjects of their degree programmes. It will appeal to all types of students – those who have a genuine interest in learning about the Spanish language and culture for their own sake as well as those who are motivated to develop Spanish language skills and (inter)cultural competence to enhance their employment prospects in Ireland and further afield. Practical reading, writing, speaking and listening skills will be taught through in-person classes with experienced tutors who are native speakers. Classroom-based learning will be complemented by asynchronous online material and exercises to be completed weekly.

Please note: Prospective students should note that this language elective is intended for beginners. Students who took Spanish for the Leaving Certificate examination (or equivalent) cannot be accommodated in this class but should consider signing up for a Beginners’ language elective in French, German, or Chinese instead.
