Origins and Numerical Systems. Ancient Egypt and Babylonia. The birth of modern mathematics in Greece circa 600 B.C. The classical period and the Alexandrian period of Ancient Greece. Chinese, Indian and Arabic mathematics. The renewal of the mathematical spirit in Europe. The Renaissance. Calculus, the marriage of Algebra and Geometry and the birth of Probability in the 17th Century. 18th century mathematics in Europe. The rigourisation of Calculus and the liberation of Algebra in the 19th century. Some 20th century mathematics.
