Module INTRODUCTION TO MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Module code: MN204
Credits: 5
Semester: 2
Department: BUSINESS
International: Yes
Overview Overview

The objective of this course is to equip participants with the knowledge of how to effectively manage and exploit information systems and information technology in modern organisations and businesses. This course is centred around the fundamental premise that a critical role of information technology is to provide organisations with strategic advantage by facilitating problem-solving, increasing productivity and quality, increasing speed, improving customer service, enhancing communication and collaboration, and enabling business process restructuring. Rather than focusing on the technology itself, the emphasis is placed on the innovative uses of information technologies. In addition, the course will expose participants to debates on current issues in business information management and create an awareness of the usefulness and limitations of information systems in organisations.
