This English for Academic Purposes (EAP) module focuses on enabling students to acquire a sufficient command of the English language approximate to CEFR level C1.1 and involving all four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking, to enable them to engage successfully to a high degree with their academic studies across a range of subject areas. At CEFR C1.1, students will be able to understand extended speech and lectures, follow complex lines of argument in extended, unstructured speech and lectures with minimal signalling; understand long, specialised texts, including technical instructions; present clear, detailed descriptions on complex subjects; write clear, highly-detailed texts including reports and essays while selecting the appropriate style required. All of the above will be accomplished using excellent and highly appropriate levels of grammatical accuracy and lexical range.
