Power and politics in humanitarian action; Defining humanitarian emergencies - natural and manmade;
Local capacities and international responses; International architecture for emergency response;
Establishing an emergency response; Localisation, Public Health in Emergencies; Water & Sanitation in Emergencies;
Food Security and Nutrition; Gender Based Violence in Emergencies; Education in Emergencies; Linking relief and development;
Case studies of emergency response will be presented throughout the course to link theory and practice.
