	Overview
	In this module students are exposed to readings topically related to a theme (e.g. colonialism, genocide, empire, etc.). They are asked to conduct weekly readings which form the basis of weekly presentations and in-class discussion. These readings, presentations and discussions in turn form the basis for written reviews.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: - recognize existing and emerging fields in European history - distinguish different categories of historical research and discuss their respective analytical values in application to specific problems in European history - process a large body of secondary source material, and appreciate, based on able selection, approaches, methods and significance of seminal studies - monitor the coherence and consistence of historical argumentation critically - formulate a critical position towards body of existing research - transfer approaches and methods to other fields of historical research
