On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:

• Critically evaluate the arguments put forward by policymakers to justify their trade policy.
• Identify the reasons for international trade.
• Explain the pattern of trade observed between different trading blocks in the real world.
• Identify the losers and the winners from international trade.
• Explain the effects of the different trade policy instruments on various groups in the economy.
• Demonstrate when and why trade policy is likely to be influenced by specific vested interests within an economy.
