The macroeconomics component of the module addresses economic issues at an aggregate level. Emphasis is placed on the measurement of living standards, economic growth, inflation, unemployment, economic inequality, savings and investment, the monetary system and monetary and fiscal policy. The quantitative component aims to develop mastery of basic quantitative techniques and how to apply these techniques to problems of an economic nature. Topic covered include linear and non-linear functions, simultaneous equations, calculus and optimisation.
