Advanced bioreactor concepts including mass transfer; the relevance of mass transfer in homogenous and heterogenous bioreactions; fluid dynamics; detailed discussion of large-scale prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell culture systems for recombinant protein production; use of nanoparticles in bioproduction of reagents for high sensitivity assay systems; lignocellulose as a source of carbohydrate for bioethanol production by fermentation; enzymatic degradation of lignocellulose; fungi as a source of enzymes required for bioprocessing; directed evolution of enzymes and application in the improvement of industrial enzymes.

NOTE TO VISITING STUDENTS: Only suitable for international/visiting students attending for a full academic year.
