Topics covered include: basic concepts of immunology including innate and adaptive immune responses, regulation of the cell cycle, cancer including the anti-tumour immune response, basic molecular and cellular concepts of the nervous system, select neurological disorders, basic molecular and cellular concepts of chronic metabolic disorders, cardiovascular, inflammatory and respiratory disease. Students carry out library-based research and give a short oral presentation on a biological topic. In addition, students work in groups to research and present a poster on a biological topic. The posters are presented for public display and are assessed on content and presentation.
