	Details
	Our new degree in Robotics and Intelligent Devices blends Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, reflecting the increasing global change, blending the two subject areas. Examples of products produced from such a convergence are: The new category of wearable devices (smart watches, health sensors, music players) Intelligent and automated systems (self-parking cars, self-driving cars, building environment control systems, automated factories, televisions, home appliances) Robotics and mobile systems (assisted living systems, manufacturing, search-and-rescue, drones and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles - UAVs) There is a rapid convergence of software and hardware to produce intelligent machines, in our houses, our cars, and in the form of robots. This programme combines Maynooth’s expertise and research in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science with a blend of modules on ethics, business and communications. Students complete a range of topics from Signal Processing, Control Theory, Programming and Electronics. Through project work, students will explore robotics and intelligent devices and may focus their project work throughout the programme in a specific area of their interest or blend thematic areas.

Mature students - Information:

A mature student is 23 years or older by 1st January in the year of entry to the University. For part-time degrees the mature age is 21. Admission is based on your application. Mathematics test and/or interview.

O3/H7 Leaving Certificate Mathematics or equivalent is required.

Apply to the CAO by February 1st 2018. Late applications from mature students may be accepted after this date - consult the Undergraduate Studies website for updates. Application may not be made to the CAO after May 1st 2018.

Mature students must complete the CAO section for mature applicants fully, indicating clearly past or current studies, and outlining educational goals and objectives. Applicants are assessed on the basis of the information provided on their CAO application form. All questions should be answered in full.

Mature student applicants who have a disability

If you have a disability or specific learning difficulty (e.g. dyslexia), and require examination support for the written tests, please submit supporting documentation by 1 March 2018 to the Access Office. Unfortunately we are unable to consider applications for alternative examination accommodation after this deadline.

	Leaving Certificate applicants are required to present (as a minimum): 2H5 & 4O6/H7 and O6/H7 in Irish, English, O4/H7 Mathematics. 	Career and postgraduate options
	Career options: Students completing the degree in Robotics and Intelligent Devices will acquire strong skills in systems and knowledge of how systems fit together, through areas such as hardware, signal processing and system control. Through their combined work in hardware and software, students are equipped with a blend of skills which will lead them to work on items such as music devices, physical computer interfaces, mobile phones and healthcare systems. There is also the option of further study. Once a student has completed the degree in Robotics and Intelligent Devices they may continue their education in Maynooth through postgraduate studies and PhD programmes.
