	Through our research programmes, Electronic Engineering at Maynooth has developed world-class expertise in the area of mobile communications, biomedical diagnostics and technologies, and intelligent control of large robotic equipment such as renewable energy wave machines. Each of these areas is matched to rapidly growing industries and excellent job opportunities. By bringing this deep knowledge to all the undergraduate programmes, we provide our graduates with a world-class electronic engineering education but also a head start in these exciting and important areas. The Electronic Engineering degree is accredited by the Institute of Engineers of Ireland (IEI) and is recognised internationally. Graduates of the BE (hons) degree are eligible for membership of the Institute. Honours graduates are also eligible for associate membership of the Institution of Electrical Engineers (AMIEE) in the UK and membership of the Institution of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (MIEEE) in the USA.

Mature students - Information:

A mature student is 23 years or older by 1st January in the year of entry to the University. For part-time degrees the mature age is 21. Admission is based on your application. Interview. Applicants may be required to take a Mathematics Test.

H4 Leaving Certificate Mathematics or equivalent is required. A special Mathematics Exam is also available in August for students who have not attained a H4 in Mathematics.

Apply to the CAO by February 1st 2018. Late applications from mature students may be accepted after this date - consult the Undergraduate Studies website for updates. Application may not be made to the CAO after May 1st 2018.

Mature students must complete the CAO section for mature applicants fully, indicating clearly past or current studies, and outlining educational goals and objectives. Applicants are assessed on the basis of the information provided on their CAO application form. All questions should be answered in full.

Mature student applicants who have a disability

If you have a disability or specific learning difficulty (e.g. dyslexia), and require examination support for the written tests, please submit supporting documentation by 1 March 2018 to the Access Office. Unfortunately we are unable to consider applications for alternative examination accommodation after this deadline.

	Leaving Cert Applicants: 2H5 & 4O6/H7, Irish, English & a Science subject (i.e. Agricultural Science, Applied Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Physics with Chemistry or Technology) & H4 Mathematics. Applicants who do not achieve the H4 in their Leaving Certificate 2017 Mathematics exam can sit the Special Mathematics Examination held in late August. The exam is based on Paper 1 of the Leaving Certificate curriculum. Applicants must achieve at least H4 grade in this exam, along with the other entry requirements, in order to be accepted on to our Electronic Engineering degree (MH304). Applicants under 23 years of age need to have attained at least 300 points in their Leaving Certificate or equivalent plus basic entry requirements.
