Track 1: Primary Education
Note 1: Additional module ADT003 'ENGLISH LITERATURE AND LEARNING'
The Department of Education and Skills specifies minimum entry requirements that students must meet in in Maths, English and Irish in order to progress into Primary Teaching Initial Teacher Education. This is to ensure that primary teachers have the capacity to lead learning in these vital areas. The Think About Teaching course provides modules in Irish and Maths, that prepare students to meet these requirements. Students who are registered in the Primary Stream (ITE1) but who do not have the Leaving Cert English entry requirement (O4 or H7), will also be required to complete the additional 5 credit module ADT003: English Literature and Learning. Click on ADT003 in ITE 3: Secondary Education (Arts & Social Sciences) below for more details on this module.
Please note that the mark achieved for ADT003 will not contribute to the overall grade for ITE1- Primary Education. It will however be included on an academic transcript. Students should contact the course co-ordinator for further details on how to register.
