This course examines the role of documentary filmmaking as a tool for social transformation during the period of the New Latin American Cinema of the 1960s and 1970s and considers recent developments in contemporary filmmaking in Chile, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. It will also assess how documentary film has evolved from a politically committed practice to a more personal and formally experimental style. |
