• Explore the context of realising rights nationally and internationally
• Discuss the various instruments and institutions concerned with rights and their realisation
• Examine the key approaches to realising rights in a variety of contexts, e.g., campaigns, protests, social movements and social policy
• Analyse various approaches to realising rights in relation to their theoretical and ideological underpinnings and overall effectiveness
• Critically reflect on and evaluate examples of realising rights in practice

• Attendance and participation in a series of agreed seminars and conferences relating to social policy

• Module Graded (numeric value) or Ungraded (Pass/Not Passed): Graded

• Pass standard: 40%
