Theoretical perspectives on social policy in contemporary contexts including social democratic, Marxist, feminist, neo-liberal approaches; welfare states in post-industrial societies; welfare state regimes and their critique; poverty and social exclusion-conceptions and measurement; the “cultural” turn, social capital; welfare and power; an examination of the social-scientific nature of social policy.
