Introduction to the theory, values, traditions and practice of the social professions and the associated areas of theory and policy in which they function, specifically: social work theory, values, skills; community and youth work theory, values, skills. perspectives on the commonalities and differences between the social professions; case studies of the social professions in action; debates on professionalisation; supervised professional practice and its role and application in different professions; the wider policy context of the social professions; comparative perspectives.
