This module develops the perspective of the life course and life stages in understanding social policy. It outlines the benefits of this approach, which include a specific on key stages such as childhood, working age and old age. This is complemented by a focus on old and new risks and changing life patterns, including, for example, lone parenthood, disability, changing work and household patterns, and also the social class dimension of the life course.
