• Demonstrate an understanding of the role of research in the study of social policy and the appropriateness of different research methodologies
• Generate robust, operational research questions, develop a sound research proposal and design a feasible research project
• Understand the role of the literature in research and employ the literature in an effective way throughout the research process
• Draw on different research methods as relevant to different research inquiries and begin developing key research proficiencies in data collection and analysis
• Confidently appraise social policy related research and other empirical work to foster skills in reflective research practice
