Modules SP153 and SP154 are jointly designed to enable students to become knowledgeable and skilled in relation to:

• Critical inquiry, discovery, reading, writing and discussion in social science.
• Theorising, conceptualization, analysis and communication in social science.
• Effective use of key IT/software packages.

SP154 focuses on the development of skills in theorising, conceptualizing and analysing and in linking academic scholarship with policy and action.

It will use practical examples and topical issues to explore key themes and ideas in social science, social research and social policy; and will enable students to develop their skills of analysis and communication. As in SP153, there will be a digital skills component.
