Modules SP153 and SP154 are jointly designed to enable students to become knowledgeable and skilled in relation to:
• Critical inquiry, discovery, reading, writing and discussion in social science. • Theorising, conceptualization, analysis and communication in social science. • Effective use of key IT/software packages.
SP153 focuses on promoting and developing a sense of inquiry and discovery and the basic skills to engage in social science discourse.
Key social science themes (e.g. poverty, power, equality, distribution, recognition, and policy itself) will form the substantive ground.
There will be a series of class exercises to explore learning styles, support the development of individual learning plans, and develop a range of critical skills relating to social science scholarship, including digital skills.
