This module will provide a deep understanding of the core concepts, ideologies and epistemologies which constitute feminist theory(ies). It will discuss the usefulness of feminism for providing an analysis of the gendered nature of social structures and institutions, as well of how feminism in practice can be a transformative ideology. Through this module, students will develop their own critical theoretical abilities and be able to situate themselves in current debates on gender and feminism including questions about the redefinition of sexuality and gender, and how differences among women can both exacerbate and challenge gender inequality.
