Students will be offered a choice of a methods focused thesis or work- based engaged research project with partner organisation (20,000 words max). The Department has already experimented with such partnership arrangements. Project Live, an initiative begun in 2020, enabled staff members and postgraduate students to team up with civil society organisations to solve problems through applied research. We will build on our learning from this initiative to extend opportunities to postgraduate students to engage in “real world” research. We intend to adapt elements of the VITAE Researcher Development Framework into the new programme with a focus on preparing work-ready graduates. Students will be enrolled in a workshop series throughout Semester 1 and 2 to support:
· The conceptualisation and management of the thesis/work-based project
· Student researcher self-development and professional career development
· Masterclass/guest lecture inputs and mentoring sessions delivered by employers and alumni.
