• Continuous Assessment detail(s): Assessment to be comprised of components completed by individual students and components produced collaboratively working as a group. Both individual and group assessments will contribute to the result for this course. Formative feedback will play a central role in the course with frequent opportunities for students to revise and rework assignments (addressing and building on feedback) and for students themselves to give, receive and use feedback. Incorporated in the course will be certain activities whereby students can, if they wish, make reference to topics or concepts that they are studying in their other first year subject-specific courses. For example, a student may choose to prepare and deliver a practice oral presentation on a topic that he or she has explored in a recent subject lecture. It is anticipated that such activities will enable students to recognize and experience the practical application of the skills that they are learning about during this course to their wider studies.

• The repeat option for this course consists of a supplemental assessment submitted for marking at the Autumn exam board meeting. Failure to attend at least 50% of the classes will result in a module mark capped at 35%
• Penalties: Failure to attend at least 50% of the classes will result in the module mark being capped at 35%.

• The supplemental assessment of CA will consist of writing assignments that will be submitted through Moodle. Detailed instructions will be emailed to students following the release of official results at the end of the academic year.
