Module Content: The fundamentals of psychometrics including principles of psychological test design, administration and analysis. Major theories of personality and intelligence/ability. Applications of individual differences theory and research. The structure and measurement of human abilities. The role of genetic and environmental factors in personality and intelligence. Practical work on psychometrics.

Module Objective: To introduce key theoretical and practical issues involved in the assessment and measurement of individual differences. To examine the principal dimensions and theories (both modern and classical) of individual differences. To explore some of the preconceptions underlying common statements and theories of personality and intelligence/ability.
