Module Content: Behaviour analysis: The philosophy, core concepts and methodologies. Classical conditioning. Reinforcement. Aversive control. The operant. Stimulus control and conditional discrimination. Development and developmental disabilities. Applied Behaviour Analysis. Language and cognitive development. The relationship between language processes and psychological functioning. Practical work examining basic learning principles involved in the development of basic language and cognitive skills.

Module Objective: To explore the key features of a behavioural approach to psychology and to outline the main technical terms and concepts. To consider how the basic principles of behaviour analysis are employed in educational and therapeutic settings and how they have given rise to accounts of complex human behaviour.
