To provide an opportunity for a PhD student in the second or third year of research to collate, express and present an aspect of his or her work primarily to other researchers from the home department, or in another department within MU, as agreed with the doctoral supervisor. This activity will develop the student’s skills in refining and communicating their research to an audience of their peers, as well as assisting in peer-to-peer learning. The student will prepare and deliver a substantial research paper (to last c. 30 minutes) or an equivalent presentation, at the Philosophical Seminar or some other agreed venue within MU. The student will also be expected to respond appropriately to questions from the audience, and will subsequently offer a report on the experience in a form agreed with the doctoral supervisor.
