This module runs full-time over 4 months from May to August. Learners carry out the research project in pairs,
on behalf of a real organisation. They liaise with the organisation, identify strategic goals and carry out primary
research with a view to identifying innovation opportunities for the organisation. At the end of the project the
learners present their innovation proposal with detailed market validation, costing and implementation plan to
a forum of the class and to the organisation’s senior management representatives. Each learner produces a
30,000 word dissertation presenting and defending their work.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the learner will be able to:
Strategically analyse an organisation’s requirements, context and capabilities for innovation.
Carry out rigorous and focussed field research and develop innovation proposals that are rigorously defensible and appropriate to an organisation’s strategic objectives and constrained capabilities.
Prepare clear implementation proposals and defend these in a presentation forum.
